Turn On
Yesterday I was watching one of my favorite shows, Inside The Actor's Studio. Laura Linney, one of my favorite actresses was the guest. I went through a phase where I watched every episode of this show, now I just tivo and watch the people I like. I just love hearing the stories of the actors' lives and their passion for and perspective on their body of work. I always look forward to the end of the show (and sometimes fast forward to this part if the guest bores me). It is the part where James Lipton asks guests the 10 questions from the questionnaire made famous by Bernard Pivot. Yesterday when James Lipton asked Laura Linney what turns her on, she said, "The changing of the seasons." I would have to agree. And this year, with this outside my window again, spring is going to turn me on like never before.

Yoga Starts Today
I will be doing yoga everyday for the next 4 weeks. It is an experiment of sorts. I have had the urge recently (which I often ignore) to do more yoga. My wandering mind that is up in the clouds and my stiff neck and tense shoulders are not letting me ignore this need anymore. The winter blues have me fast forwarding to spring which is still months away. I hope developing a daily yoga practice will help me to find some light in these January days. I want to be present for them. The Yoga Odyssey is an online course that helps you to commit to a daily yoga practice, and also helps you learn how to practice on your own at home. The idea is that after one month of regular practice, you will have created a "yoga habit" that you can keep going. I am aiming for 15 minutes a day and one class each week. I may or may not write about the experience either here or in some other little notebook I have lying around.
Wish me luck.
Namaste.

Happiness
Kids singing make me happy and I have always dreamed of being a teacher who plays guitar. This year I am going to do it. I will be ready for my return to the classroom in September, guitar in hand.
