I have only read the introduction and the first two chapters, titled Inspiration and Color. Already there are several pages with folded down corners. I know this is naughty to do since this is a library book. Someday I hope to be able to actually buy and collect books like this. I would organize them by the color of their spine on bookshelves in my dream office/work space. You can tell how much I like a book or magazine by the number of folded down corners it has when I finish reading it. The problem is I have to actually go back and do something with the idea, the words, the recipe, or the image that was the reason for the corner fold. The blog is one of the places I have created to store my finds.
A habit of seeing...
"Inspiration is the opposite of expiration, a drawing in, as opposed to a letting out. We can walk through life without seeing, without taking in the details, the words, the colors, the pictures, and miss the whole point of inspiration. Or, we can adopt an approach that allows us to stop a while and look and listen and reflect and enjoy. We can learn to sift through the mass of stimuli we encounter every day and to focus on what inspires us as individuals and, in doing so, crate a way of seeing, a way of being receptive to inspiration."
