Hot Chocolate

This Stunning Monochrome

I am feeling grey today. Kind of a bummer since I was so looking forward to this mid-week day off. I made banana pumpkin bread this morning and headed back to bed. When I finally got up, I went walking in hopes that some fresh air would help my mood. I stopped in a bookstore to look at 2010 calendars and walked out with this little bit of color.

Work Break

Ready for November

September and October took quite a toll on me.
Finally I can say I am beginning to feel caught up.
I am ready for November and all it will bring.
November is for giving thanks.
I bought this little book from here a year ago.
It oozes November and will be perfect for collecting all that I am grateful for this month.
November on Highland. The leaves are hanging on.
They make the walk down to Davis and back a little more magical.

Feeling Crafty

I am obsessed with flag garland.  My love inspired these little note cards.  I can't wait to write messages on them like....
CELEBRATE
or
BE HAPPY
or
YAY YOU

My new classroom has lots of metal doors and trim.  I figure I will take advantage of it and use it as a place to hang photos or display children's work.  I wanted some funky magnets to hang stuff with.  I saw these at a street market recently and decided to try making them myself.  They turned out so fun, I want to make more!  Maybe even as gifts to go along with the flag garland cards.

Squeezing It In

Here is my list of happy I am planning for the last weeks of summer.

Swimming at Walden Pond
Making pesto
Seeing this exhibit at the DeCordova
Going on a bike ride
Kayaking
Catching these movies
Getting away one more time

I Love New York Trips

Walked the Brooklyn Bridge.  In the rain.  Waiting on the other side was Grimaldi's Pizza.
Waited in line for Jimmy Fallon tickets.  Twice.
Visited the Guggenheim for the first time.  Enjoyed the Frank Lloyd Wright Exhibit.
Biked in Central Park.  This is my cruiser.
Came home with 3 pairs.  Come to find out Miz Mooz has stores.  Only in NYC.  Probably a good thing.
